Biogen Idec is a global leader in the development and commercialization of novel biotherapeutics. With constantly evolving product messages and hundreds of sales representatives, Biogen Idec knows that training is critical to success. Objectives The company needed a system to manage its education initiatives in order to increase training compliance, reduce costs and develop an internal brand that would help market all training initiatives. Biogen Idec called on Embarc to create “Biogen Idec University”, an online educational portal that is used by the company’s 500 sales representatives, and by nearly 1,000 external partners of the organization (nurses, pharmacists, advocates), to access training on company products, systems, and policies. Results BiogenIdecU.com has become a cornerstone of the company’s educational initiatives. It offers more relevant content, the ability to manage an individual’s experience, and will save over $1 million dollars in training costs.
